Using nature’s dyes

beachsyd05

Using chemical dyes cannot only be harmful for you but for the environment as well. I bet you already knew that? One way you can cut down on using Chemical dyes is to use natural dyes such as avocados: save the pit’s & skins you will also need some vinegar & rope to tie the item. Freeze the avocado skin & pits till needed then soak the item that your dying in vinegar for about 8 hours. Simmer the avocado pits & skins on low heat for about an hour or until you get the color you desire. Later strain & dye your items while letting it sit for as long as possible & don’t worry if it’s not the color you desire save the die & re-die the item.

Say you don’t have avocados or you’re allergic, no problem! Grab some onions skins and boil them for about an hour. Strain and soak for as long as you see fit.

Other methods of dying include blueberries, flower petals & black berries.
