The issue
There is no doubt that globalization has impacted each one of us. Although most of these impacts are positive, the environment has had some negative influence. Transportation plays a vital role for countries to connect more and trade goods. However, one cannot deny that the transportation of goods takes up a lot of energy and resources. Besides transportation, manufacturing also affects our environment severely. Overuse of water and increase in the use of cheaper materials are just some of the many faults of the manufacturing sector. We can’t blame them, for the competition between goods and services has increased rapidly with the onset of globalization. Lastly, an increase in population leads to an escalation in demand. Therefore, companies require more resources and more transportation due to competition.
How can we reduce these impacts?
There are a couple of ways by which we can overcome such impacts. Firstly, coming up with more eco-friendly ways to commute goods can prove to be a tremendous help to the environment. Discouraging the use of plastics by increasing its cost and promoting more environmentally-friendly materials will help the manufacturing sector do its part for the environment.
