Each day tons of plastic from all over the world is dumped into oceans. Much of this plastic ends up being ingested by various sea animals such as whales, sea turtles, and seagulls. This is obviously not good for the health of the wildlife in our oceans. Some fish can become entangled in the plastic when swimming. Plastic is also detrimental to seabirds because if they ingest plastic it can block other food from entering into their bodies. Plastic in the ocean also has a great affect on coral reefs, which can contract diseases from the material. Thousands of species live in coral reefs around the world so this is particularly alarming.
You can help stop plastic pollution in the ocean in a variety of ways. You can reuse bags and recycle. Use less plastic content if possible. The most important thing is to remain conscious of the thing you do because they can affect entire ecosystems.
