A Time of Change

The United States of America is currently undergoing a time of change. With Joe Biden being our President-elect, along with Kamala Harris as our Vice-President-elect, it is important to look at how these prominent figures in politics will be impacting our environment and climate.

First off, I would like to acknowledge the fact that Kamala Harris will be our first Black, South-Asian woman as Vice President, and this shows how much progress we have made since George Washington was the first president all the way back in 1789.

It is important to look at all of the strides these politicians will be making to save our planet. It is quite clear that both Biden and Harris acknowledge the effects of climate change, and the fact that climate change is “real.” It is nice to know that they will be having their own team of scientists to help with external issues such as the Coronavirus, and potentially climate change.

On the other hand, many people can say that Harris is against fracking, which does have its negative environmental impacts if not executed correctly, and is one way for us to get our natural resources. No matter what politicians say, it truly matters what they do, the actions they take to better our country. For now, we should observe exactly what Biden and Harris do for our environment, and then we can evaluate their implications.

Instead of demonizing and demising the power that the younger generation has in relation to our ever changing planet, both Biden and Harris strongly encourage them to make their mark. This is something very important for me, to see that our future president and vice president have the decency to care about the people they are protecting.
